Shomrita’s enthusiasm in dance and music was evident at an early age. Encouraged by her parents at age 4, she took to learning Bharatanatyam from Smt.Maithili Desai from Baroda for 12 years. She is a B.Tech graduate and has worked in IT for more than 5 years before she took up dance as a full time career.
Shomrita began learning Odissi with Shubham under the able guidance of her Guru Smt. Barnalee Sarkar in 2015. Under her guidance, Shomrita started understanding the nuances of the art form and fell in love with Odissi. Shomrita is a part of Shubham Dance Ensemble and has performed at various events in various cities of the country. She has completed her Visharad in Odissi from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, and is pursuing Masters.
She made her debut performance as a soloist in December 2022 and aspires to spread the art form to the present and future generations. Shomrita has a passion for teaching. She provides training to students in Odissi & Bharatanatyam.
Shomrita has also learnt the basics of Kathak from her Guru Smt. Barnalee Sarkar.
