Akhanda Arpan

A Unique Tribute to Our Revered Gurus

A one-of-a-kind festival in Bangalore, is a heartfelt tribute to our revered Gurus. Curated by Bornalee Sarkar, this festival was inspired by Dr. Sujaya Ghosh’s vision to celebrate our masters in a unique way. The festival brings together talented dancers and artists, including Arpita Bannerjee, Karishma Ahuja, Preeja Mahendran, Smitha Srinivasan, and Sohini Bose, who have come on board as collaborators.

The number seven holds great significance in our culture, representing the seven notes of music, the seven rhythmic cycles, the seven days of the week, the seven colors of the rainbow, and the seven sages. Akhanda Arpan weaves this auspiciousness into a 7-hour non-stop celebration of our Gurus, where the sound of music and the rhythm of ghungroos don’t stop.

Akhanda Arpan is a collaborative effort between Anaadya Performing Arts, Kadambari School of Odissi Dance, Shivalaya School of Dance, Thaat Kathak Academy, Urja, and The Shubham  School of Performing Arts. Artists from various disciplines come together to pay homage to our masters, celebrating their legacy and contributions to classical dance and music.

The inaugural Akhanda Arpan in 2024 was a grand success, featuring 84 artists from diverse genres. The festival has gained popularity and love from artists in Bangalore, encouraging us to continue this tradition.
